Finally, my presentation is over. I know I chose the perfect topic for my genius hour project for ELA.  I love jazz now.

As I got more and more info, I learned more more about what I want to do after college.

Now, I know what to do and how to do it. I now know this is how I want this to my career.

      ALERT!!!!!

After listening to jazz and different styles of jazz, I've been able to hear the cords of the song.  And after hearing all of the solos, I've been able to create a few little licks as said in jazz.  If you want to hear them, come to the Grand Prairie Fine Arts Academy Jazz Band's concert on May 21, 2015

I'm Getting Better

I went online and I found a lot of famous jazz musicians such as
  • Duke Ellington
  • Count Basie
  • Ella Fitzgerald
  • Dizzy Gillespie
If you go online and look them up, you will see what I'm playing in my band classes and I really hope you will like it.

Learning:

Last Tuesday, the band got a new piece. When i first looked at it, I was like, "this is going to be very hard. WRONG!!!

Thanks to Miss Hunt, i found the website where I can find any piece I wanted. when I listened to the piece the first time, i thought I wasn't going to figure it out for a while. I only needed to learn the long, hard, complicated, solo. And the solo was due on May 9th which gave me about a month to learn the solo.

It has been a week since the band got the piece and I've already learned the entire solo. Yesterday, the band played Double or Nothing and we got to measure 33. I played my solo and Miss Hunt and Mr Centera were amazed how well I had played the solo. We stopped at measure 57 and I never realized that everyone had stopped playing because I was only focused on playing my solo. When we stopped at 57, Miss Hunt looked at me and said, "That was amazing. How did you do that?"

We went back to measure 19 andplayed up to 57 and again she said the exact same thing. She knew I was ready. Mr Centera knew I was ready, the entire band knew I was ready. And now, all I need to do is keep playing it over and over again and to make sure it is perfect.

The things that I used to learn my solo were
I hope y'all go to the site and listen to the song. I've been working really hard on the solo. Please make sure you comment and/or give me constructive critisism.

Let me know what you guys think on my blog.

How can I learn how to play jazz music better?

Jazz

It's all about listening.
You always need to use your ear.
Being laid back,
Is what you need to be.
Have you ever tried it.

You need two things in jazz,
A good ear
And knowing the basics of jazz.

It's all about waiting and listening.
All jazz musicians do it.
Even I do it.
Try it,
It's really fun.
